2008 Annual Regional Meeting

When: November 6 - 8, 2008

Where: Stay at the Oxnard Marriot Residence Inn at River Ridge.

Our annual event was a delight for those who made it this year. We began with registration and the complementary barbeque that the Residence Inn provided it's guests on Thursday evening. It was then on to the Hospitality Suite, this year hosted by Roy & Pat Postma. Loads of hello's and catching up for most of us.

Friday morning presented clear skies and a Santa Ana wind whirling from the East. Most of us managed well as the wind assisted 275 yard drives in the early holes. The four new holes were situated on a nice sized hill and the views were spectacular as the Islands were clearly visable and the sea was a bright blue. As we turned the corner and headed back into the wind things changed. Now it was a series of holes dead into the warm winds that changed par fours into par fives. Tough as it was, the five teams turned out to be evenly matched with all scores within 2 strokes. The winning team took the back nine scorecard playoff.

The awards banquet was held at the Inn where abundant food and drink was provided. A presentation of the trophies and prizes, a three stage raffle, and a GCS National update was given. A few more tidbits and we were off to the hospitality suite for a nightcap.

Our trade show began at 8AM with tables displayed by our Region 9 members along with visiting members from England, New York, and Nevada. Thanks to our visitors!
